Laws on the INTERNET?!

I knew that there were rules and regulations when you’re online. I never really took it seriously because I thought that there was no way that they can trace me. Through this course, I became more aware of these laws and I started respecting them.

The best lesson for me was Password Security. After Sir Eric taught us how important password strength is, I realized that my passwords are so obvious. All of us in our class changed ours, into non-blatant passwords.

I like my Internet Education because it is different. I’m learning a lot so far and every meeting, I appreciate the magic of the internet more and more.

My Internet Experience Got a Hella Betta!

It got better since we started this class… It was about the netiquette that I started doing good on using the net. I became more giving and more alert especially in online games… I learned that I also have a reputation in the online world… Thanks for making me realize that Sir Eric Saints!

Through this course, has my internet experience changed?

I think my internet experience changed through this course. It has changed many ways and I learned a lot from it. I’ve been more aware of the risks of surfing the web. I’ve gotten more interested in the world wide web. It has been more fun for me and I was taught many things that i didn’t know before. These things were techniques used for the internet.

I also learned to use the web more usefully. Using it more than just for fun. I learned too about many of the internet like it’s history, the tools of the internet, bookmarking certain URLs and others. I think my view of the internet has changed and has grown.

To Our Appreciative Guinea Pigs

Our dear Y4s,

It’s been four months since we first embarked on this experiment called Internet Education. With you guys, Teacher Connie and I have been exploring ways not just to to help you become better at surfing, but to share with you the nearly limitless possibilities of transforming your internet skills and forays into a humanizing experience.

The idea of an elective in internet education and law, sparked by T. Emma’s invitation for us to teach, was something entirely new for the school. We knew we couldn’t resist the challenge. Soon enough, we realized that our class (like our HEdCen.com site) meant offering ourselves up, this time together with a dozen unsuspecting Y4s, as volunteer test subjects. Thus, we’ve been meeting twice a week in the new computer lab, glorified guinea pigs trying to make sense of the maze of cyberspace.

From our feedback session last Wednesday, it looks like Teacher Connie and I have a bunch of truly appreciative guinea pigs! As I was listening to your comments about what you enjoyed as well as disliked about our course, it struck me that we’ve got something worthwhile going on here. And to hear that you wanted to meet more often and have longer (but earlier) class sessions warmed my heart, even though I wasn’t sure if you guys weren’t just sucking up to the teach.

Keep up the good work peeps! We’re creating a legacy here for future batches.

Sincerely yours,

T. Eric

My surfing? changed?

I’ve learned alot this recently concluded First Trimester. Basically I know how to use the internet, surf stuff and reasearch on things, I thought I had enough knowledge to be a good internet user. Despite all those knowledge that I gained through experience, I still lacked alot of things. This Elective subject thought me how to be a safer user when browsing the internet, knowing that anybody from anywhere can view my stuff and even hack my system and accounts.

I know that I am a better user when using a computer and while on the internet, specially when I use public computers. I know what to do to keep the privacy level that I desire, for the protection of my personal information and everything that is related to it.

Netiquette… I think I have it, but I just lack a bit of it… Ahehehe!

 Ok…

Some of my experiences about the Netiquettes:

Remember the Human

I had so many fights at the web for your info… Yeah… Yeah… I know… Its bad. So, I’ll try to change it… Another special info… One of those guys was the HEd Cen Alumnae… Nathan Riskin… Woah! Now that’s a fight! Hahaha! Anyway kids, don’t try that at the net… and of course at real life.

Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life

I’ve always been myself in the net. What I am in real life, is who you chat in the net. I say “po” and “opo” to every old guy and gal along the way, just like in real life, and I do my antics both in real life and the net.

Here are most of my screen names on the net.

Skype:

Gaia Online:

Kami Mitsukai

Destruction blade

Ragnarok ONline:

Multiply:

whatever6585043

I chose whatever6585043 as my username on Multiply because, I consider my house as one of the most boring places in this world. The word “whatever” is an expression that shows that you’re bored or doesn’t appreciate what it is and for me, thats my house. And I can only check and upload on my Multiply account, because outside, I only play online games, nothing more. And 6585043 is of course, my house’s telephone number. So whatever + 6585043 = I’m bored when I’m at home.

Some pictures of my avatars on such sites on the net…

At Yahoo! Messenger... I chose this because, I think I'm a lil cute in this picture... well at least for me. Hahahaha!

At my kimhari_official at Friendster... I chose this because, it gives me a very hot gangsta look... Hahahaha!

My avatar at my first Friendster Account... My rock idol... Ozzy Osbourne!

This is my Multiply account's avatar... My own photo artwork... shows my bare feet, because I'm hella bored!

My screenames and avatar :)

Here are the screen names that I use in sites. Beside them are the reasons why I use them.

  • zukate08 - well.. ‘zu’ means ‘J’, ‘ka’ means ‘a’ and ‘te’ means ‘d’. ^^ I found an alphabet table in friendster that could turn your name into something that’s japanese. It means ‘jad’, and 08 is my fave number. Sites: ‘fanart-central.net‘, ‘pkmn.net ‘, ‘blogspot.com‘, ‘dragonflycave.com‘.
  • ElionAmphithere - Since I love to draw anime, I drew myself in anime style. I named her ‘Elion’. And since I also love dragons (Amphitheres are my favorite dragon types), I added in ‘Amphithere’. Sites: only used when commenting in my friend’s blogs
  • chiksilog - In Ragnarok (it’s an online game), chiksilogs are guys who pretend to be girl characters. That was the first name that popped in my head. I was in a hurry to create an account that time. Sites: Harmonic Dischord
  • Roelani08 - Roelani is another one of my original anime characters. Sites: gaiaonline.com
  • Elion - Sites: multiply.com

My avatars/icons

I only have one so far.. It’s a picture of my dog, Micha.

Netiquette

Well, there was one time when I saw someone online bullying a newbie in Gaia. They, well, obviously broke rule number 1 and 10. I tried to tell the bullies that everyone starts out as a newbie and they should not tease people like that but they did not listen. So I just welcomed the new person and told him not to let those bullies affect him. We became friends since then.

There was another time when I went to a website for pokemon. I think it’s pkmn.net. Since I was new, I was asked to post in the ‘Introduce yourself’ thread and I did. A lot of people welcomed me, which made me feel at home.I became friends with one of the most active members in the website and there came to a time when he thought I got offended by his words since I wasn’t replying. I was in the bathroom then, taking a leak XD. He started to apologize as if there’s no tomorrow. When I read his post, I told him that I’m not mad. He still apologized, saying that he shouldn’t have said stuff like that. This has something to do with rule number one. He did not wanted to be offensive online. =^-^=
