Somwhere in time:MOVIE

It took me only 2 minutes to find information about the movie titled “Somewhere in Time”. It was directed by Jeannot Szwarc. Christopher Reeve was the main star in this movie. It was also a novel that was made into a movie. The year the movie was premiered was in 1980.

The movie is about a young writer Richard Collier is met on the opening night of his first play by an old lady who begs him to “Come back to me”. Mystified, he tries to find out about her, and learns that she is a famous stage actress from the early 1900s, Elise McKenna. Becoming more and more obsessed with her, he manages, by self hypnosis, to travel back in time where he meets her. They fall in love, a matching that is not appreciated by her manager.

I did not did not find this movie in the library. I think the internet is better for research when it comes to movies.

Tai-Pan

Last January 18, 2008, I was asked to find out who wrote this novel in the library. I did not understand the instructions clearly and so I did not found anything. Today(Jan. 21,2008), I searched for the novel in the internet and got the results. It was written by James Clavell and was published in 1966. It took me 30 seconds because it was the 3rd link after searching for the word “Tai-Pan”.

UK project reply

Today, the computer is something that is usually seen inside a house. A lot of people these days know how to use them and is quite familiar with the internet. Some parents work in offices during nighttime. It would be a good idea to use computers in schools to send report cards to parents, but what about those who cannot even afford it? The truth is, I do not agree with UK’s idea about using the internet for sending report cards. It would be unfair to those who do not have enough money to buy their own computer.

The 39 Steps

I did not find any information about this movie in the library. Maybe it is because I did not look at the index. I am slapping myself mentally right now. Lulz <3

Anyway, I used google, and it did not even took me more than a minute before I could find the right information (It took me twelve seconds flat). The movie “The 39 Steps” was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and it was released on August 1, 1935. I guess I was just used with google that I almost forgot how to use encyclopedias properly.. :(

Library vs. Internet - Randolph Hearst

Randolph Hearst was born on Apr. 29, 1863 and died on Aug. 14, 1951. It took me around four minutes to find this information in the library. I searched the internet and found the information in less than 10 seconds. Using the internet might be more convenient but it makes the people too dependent on the internet. Also, some people don’t know how to use the library anymore.
